Hillcrest Elementary parents, students, and community members weeded and nutrient-boosted 𝟯𝟲 garden beds as part of their Garden Palooza event. They planted tomatoes, beans, peas, cucumbers, peppers, onions, basil, cilantro, and more! The school is celebrating a new relationship with Smith Gardens who provided hundreds of vegetable plants and herbs through their "𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲" 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺.

The Annual Midway Horticulture Class Plant Sale will be on Thursday, May 7 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at the the Oak Harbor Public Schools district office back parking lot, 350 S Oak Harbor Street. Students are offering for sale basket stuffers, quality annuals and perennials, along with edible plants. Students started all plants from seed and tenderly cared for plants using only organic OMRI certified products. Plant prices start as low as $1. Containers starting at $5. On the first Friday of each month, OHPS school bus drivers, monitors, and the Transportation Department office staff dress up for fun!

OHHS Harbor Singers, Treble Choir, Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band all participated in the San Juan Music Educators Association Large Group Festival at Western Washington University. Students are evaluated by three or four judges on a strict rubric addressing technique, artistry, professionalism, reading skills, and more. All of the ensembles received a ranking of "Superior" which is the highest category.

Oak Harbor Intermediate Flag team had the opportunity to perform for family, friends, and the community this past week. They had an incredible time showcasing their skills, precision, and teamwork.

Exceptional Academy students were invited to ComicCon in Seattle to interview comic book illustrators, artists, authors, and cosplayers. They learned about the different job opportunities and how they got into the business.

Reese Wasinger reached an incredible 500 career strikeouts on April 15th, and Layla Suto recorded her 100th career hit on April 23rd. Both marks set new school records, surpassing the previous records of 322 strikeouts and 95 hits!

As team captains, Reese and Layla continue to lead the way with their hard work, leadership, and consistency.

And Reese wasn’t done yet… on April 21st she threw her first high school no-hitter AND hit her first high school home run in the same game. An unforgettable performance!

The Oak Harbor Educational Foundation (OHEF) is hosting a family fun run on May 30 at Windjammer Park. There will be three lengths: A 5K route, a 1-mile student run, and a 1/2-mile student run! 

For added fun, come dressed in your favorite 80s decade attire. The event emcee will be North Whidbey Middle School Principal, Russ Peters!

REP YOUR SCHOOL! The Oak Harbor school with the most participants in the fun run will get a popsicle party! Select your school during registration. So far, Broad View Elementary is in the lead with Crescent Harbor Elementary and Oak Harbor Intermediate close behind.

This event supports OHEF's mission to provide student scholarships and teacher grants in our school district.

Oak Harbor schools are teaming up to bring the World Famous Harlem Wizards to Oak Harbor High School! Teachers and staff from every school in our district will be playing in the May 6 game!
